FOOD FOR THOUGHT
As I'm studying on this subject the thoughts came to my mind how that the king saw an image. We know that God created us in His image. Here the definition of image is resemblance, representative, form and even shade which makes me think of shadow. We know that we are only a shadow of what Christ is. The Head was of Gold. It is interesting also that Christ our head was pure. Also in the Garden of Eden there is reference to a river going out of Eden to water the garden and it parted into four heads, the very first, Pison, compassed the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. That does'nt sound like a coincidence to me. We see that there are 4 main parts to this image and there were 4 rivers coming out of Eden. As we continue our study in the future, you will see that this head of gold is also talked about in chapter 3 of Daniel when we study the dream of the Tree. Again, you will note, that Jesus is referred to as the Tree of LIfe. Everything in this earth is only a reflection or a shadow of the true. The dream of the tree indicates that this head of gold, had a height that reached to the heavens. Something not revealed in this dream. Could it refer to pride? Or could it be a hint of Jesus seated in the heavens as the true Tree of Life. It also indicates that this tree of life was visible to all the earth. We know that when Jesus returns, all shall see him. It indicates that the leaves were fair, the fruit much and it was meat for all. We know that in Revelation 22.1-2 it talks about the new Jerusalem stating that "there is a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb" and "in the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations". At some point I will study out Ezekiel 31 as it says many things that mimic the dream relating to the tree. The dream of the tree also indicates that this head of gold will also have dominion unto the end of the earth. We notice in Gen 1.26 that God gave this image that he made dominion over all. We will see that the tree is hewn down and the stump and roots only will be left but they will have a band (bond, imprisonment) of iron (legs and feet) and brass (belly and thighs) around it. This stump will be wet with the dew of heaven and will lie in the tender grass of the field. Does the field represent the Kingdom of God? We know that he talks about the fields being white unto harvest. It talks about the portion, divide, spoil with the beasts of the field. Again we know that the tares and the wheat grow together. Til seven times pass over him could also mean 7 weeks of 7s. More on this later. These things take place until this head of gold knows that God rules and gives Kingdoms to whomsoever He will. We will also find out that during the "writing on the Wall' episode in chapter 5 that the kingdom of Babylon would be given to the Medes and the Persians.
